Choosing what not to do, a January check-in
January has felt full in a quiet way — the kind of fullness that comes from choosing what not to do as much as what to show up for. It’s been a reminder that fullness doesn’t always come from doing more.
We’ve had the joy of gathering with you in person—hosting a beautiful evening with Maeve by Anthropologie and spending time in conversation and creativity at the Visionary Vibes workshop in downtown Cary Park. These moments reminded us why we do this work in the first place: to create spaces that feel thoughtful, nourishing, and human.
This month has also invited a little more spaciousness than usual. With so many voices in the air around what January should look like, we felt a clear pull not to add to the noise. Instead, Umbrella has been moving a bit more intentionally behind the scenes—tending, refining, and letting things take shape without rushing them into view.
As we wrap up a brand refresh and continue building what’s next, we’re honoring a slower public rhythm for the moment. Not a pause, but a recalibration. The bones of Umbrella remain the same—care, craft, and connection—while the expression continues to evolve.
We’re deeply grateful for your presence here, whether you’ve joined us at an event, shared a kind note, or simply followed along quietly. It means more than you know. More soon, when it’s ready to be shared.
With appreciation,
Meg
