Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We get them a lot — especially from people who are new to the world of non-alcoholic spirits, or trying to figure out what Umbrella actually does. Here are the most common ones.

about umbrella

  • Umbrella is a non-alcoholic cocktail bar and bottle shop based in Raleigh, NC. We serve zero-proof cocktails at events, pop-ups, and private gatherings throughout the Triangle, and maintain a curated retail selection of non-alcoholic spirits, aperitifs, and mixers at our bottle shop inside the Self Care Marketplace in downtown Raleigh. Everything we do is alcohol-free — from the drinks we pour to the bottles we sell.

  • Our bottle shop is inside the Self Care Marketplace at 12 W Martin Street in downtown Raleigh. Shop hours are Wednesday–Thursday 11am–7pm, Friday–Saturday 11am–8pm, and Sunday 11am–5pm. We're closed Monday and Tuesday. Outside of the shop, you'll find us pouring at markets, pop-ups, and events around the Triangle — check the calendar to seewhere we'll be next.

  • Not specifically — and that's intentional. Umbrella is for anyone who wants a well-crafted drink that happens to be alcohol-free: whether you're sober, taking a break, pregnant, driving, health-focused, or simply curious. We don't ask why, and we don't assume. Our guests include people across the full spectrum of drinking choices, and we like it that way.

the bottle shop & retail

  • Not at this time. Products are available in-store at the Self Care Marketplace, or via local delivery within 30 miles of downtown Raleigh. If you're interested in placing a local delivery order, use that option at checkout.

  • Come in during bottle shop hours and ask — that's genuinely one of our favorite conversations to have. Every bottle we carry has been tasted and selected for a reason, and we can help you find something that fits how you like to drink. If you prefer to browse online first, the shop is organized by category (spirits, aperitifs, wines, bitters, syrups, ready-to-drink) to make it easier to navigate.

  • Yes. We carry a small, curated selection of low-dose hemp-derived beverages and spirits alongside our alcohol-free lineup. These are clearly labeled in store. If you have specific questions about a product's ingredients or effects, we're happy to walk you through it.

private events & bar service

  • We provide full-service non-alcoholic bar programs for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and more. That means we show up with custom menus, skilled bartenders, and everything needed to run a polished zero-proof bar — built around the size, setting, and feel of your event. We handle the sourcing, the menu design, the setup, and the service. You just show up.

  • Yes. We work alongside traditional bar service regularly. A dedicated non-alcoholic bar station is a thoughtful addition for guests who aren't drinking — it gives them something genuinely interesting to sip, and it makes the overall experience more inclusive. We coordinate with venue and catering teams to make sure everything runs smoothly.

  • The earlier the better, especially for weddings and larger events. We typically recommend reaching out at least 6–8 weeks before your event date to allow enough time for menu development and coordination. That said, we do our best to accommodate shorter timelines when availability allows — don't hesitate to ask.

  • Pricing is based on event format, guest count, and location. We offer a range of service options — from full-service staffed bars to custom pre-batched cocktail kits. The best way to get a sense of what fits your budget is to fill out our inquiry form and we'll follow up with options. There's no pressure and no obligation.

public events & tastings

  • The events calendar is the most up-to-date place to see what's coming up. You can also sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of any page — that's where we share new events, seasonal recipes, and what's happening in the world of mindful drinking.

  • Most of our bottle shop tastings are free with RSVP. Workshops and ticketed experiences (like our mixology and shrub-making classes) have a cost — pricing and ticket links are always listed on the individual event page. We keep things as accessible as we can.
